About us
The new housing in the Eastern Expansion of Dunfermline began in 2003 and continues! Eventually there are 7000 houses planned for this area! The Church of Scotland wanted to establish a church in this area and so Alan Childs was appointed to begin work here in 2003. At first, a small group met in Alan’s garage and a toddler group was established to serve the needs of local folk – there were no Leisure Centre or schools here then! The group grew and moved venue to the BLCC and then Masterton Primary until 2006 when it moved to it’s current venue in the Duloch Leisure Centre.
The church has a Leadership Group of around 10. As well as our current minister, Andrew, who arrived in 2009, we are also fortunate to have Elizabeth Phillip, our p/t children’s worker.
A new church building is currently being built on Nightingale Place and we hope to be using it by around Easter time. We hope this building will be multi-purpose and provide a conference facility as well as meeting rooms and a cafe/soft play area available for use by local groups and organisations.
The Church of Scotland have provided all of our start-up costs however, we are gradually taking on the church expenses ourselves with much support along the way. We hope that while we can become self-financing our outlook isn’t inward. We have a strong connection with Rwanda as members of the church (Gavin and Bronwen) live and work there as part of Mission Rwanda and we have also supported the work of Tear Fund, Compassion and Bethany Christian Trust.
